FLAMMABILITY TESTING

Flammability testing in the automotive sector is a critical part of vehicle development. The objective is clear: ensure that vehicles offer maximum safety in fire-related incidents, minimizing risk to human life and preventing environmental damage. Vehicle fires can originate from collisions, electrical malfunctions, defective batteries (notably in EV applications), or improper fuel handling. Both combustion and electric vehicles must comply with stringent fire safety and material burn standards.

As a laboratory accredited according to DIN EN ISO / IEC 17025, we validate regulatory compliance, assess material performance, and determine the true thermal behavior of plastics. We provide a comprehensive range of flammability tests on both finished components and raw material samples — simply send us your test material.

We conduct the following flammability tests in our plastics laboratory:

  • DIN 75200
  • FMVSS 302
  • ISO 3795
  • VW TL 1010
  • VW TL 1011
  • VW 96242
  • PTL 8501
  • DBL 5307
  • BMW GS 97038
  • Volvo VCS 5031,19
  • Jaguar LRLTM.30.MS.30
  • KMVSS Article 95
  • CMVSS 302
  • GB 8410
  • VSTD 19

Flammability Testing of Plastics

Plastics must meet defined fire safety criteria to be approved for automotive use. Testing is conducted based on your specified requirements and applicable regulations. In our modern laboratory environment, execution is fast, structured, and operationally efficient.

We support the following standardized test methods as part of our service portfolio:

  • DIN 75200: Determination of burning behaviour of interior materials in motor vehicles
  • FMVSS 302: Flammability of Interior Materials
  • ISO 3795: Determination of burning behaviour of interior materials
  • VW TL 1010: Materials for Interior Equipment – Flammability Requirements
  • VW TL 1011: Flammability of Non-Metallic Materials – Flammability; Materials Requirements
  • VW 96242: Interior – burning behavior
  • PTL 8501: Interior – burning behavior
  • DBL 5307: Flame-retardant performance of interior components
  • BMW GS 97038: Burning behavior of interior materials
  • Volvo VCS 5031,19: Flammability of Interior Materials
  • Jaguar LRLTM.30.MS.302: Flammability of Interior Materials
  • KMVSS Article 95: Flammability of Interior Materials
  • CMVSS 302: Flammability of Interior Materials
  • GB 8410: Flammability of Automotive Interior Materials
